To the north (80 km) we find Bari, the gateway to the Orient, whilst heading south we encounter first the Torre Guaceto nature reserve, then Brindisi to reach Lecce, capital of the Baroque. Moving towards the West there is Taranto, heart of Magna Graecia and finally Matera, characteristic for its Sassi and European Capital of Culture 2019.
